Welcome to The Moon Remembers Studio
Hi! My name is Mikalina I am a process artist and poet. I also facilitate two types of creative process classes, all together under the name of my studio: The Moon Remembers.

My name is Mikalina Kirkpatrick and I am a process artist. My creative unfolding began when I started participating in Wild Writing circles just like the ones I offer back in 2013 with Laurie Wagner and I've been process writing regularly ever since. Sometimes it turns into poems, but I usually do it to witness and have a deeper relationship with myself and the world around me.
In 2019 I picked up a paint brush for the first time in decades when I desperately needed a new creative outlet. I was introduced to the formal facilitated practice of Process Painting with Stewart Cubley in 2022.
I've been facilitating process writing circles called The Untamed Page since 2020 and visual process art sessions called Truth Soup since 2024.
I share a house that's overlooks the Eugene Riverbank Path System and Maury Jacobs Park in Eugene, Oregon with my awesome spouse, Marshall and our three cats.
Making art makes me feel alive. I love accompanying people on their creative journeys.
See my Artist's CV below for more details about me.

Creative Facilitation
Since 2020, Mikalina has facilitated intimate small-group creative experiences across writing, painting, and visual art, both online and in-person. Working with groups of 5–8 participants, she creates supportive containers for authentic expression without predetermined outcomes — guiding process writing groups (2020–present), process painting groups at The Moon Remembers Studio in Eugene Oregon (2024–present), and process art sessions at The Hybrid Gallery (2025). Their facilitation practice centers on fostering genuine creative exploration within close-knit community settings.
Artistic Practice & Community
As a process artist, I work primarily with acrylic paints, having recently transitioned from paper to canvas as my primary surface, and over the past year have begun incorporating fiber arts into my practice — painting on sewn works and bringing paint into sewing projects, allowing the two mediums to inform one another.
I am drawn to process art because, through not planning ahead and entering each moment from a place of deep listening and "not knowing," it creates ideal conditions for one of the most direct and untempered experiences with the wild creative force that lives within our psyches. This communion with the mystery is always deeply satisfying and often surprisingly revealing. I believe that everyone has a connection with this creative force, as evidenced by their own aliveness, and that everyone can benefit from coming into more direct contact with that part of themselves.
I am a member of the community of process painters associated with processarts.com, known as The Painting Experience, founded by Stewart Cubley almost fifty years ago. I was also an active member of Laurie Wagner's Wild Writing Community from 2013 until 2022, when I began focusing on my own writing group facilitation. I bring together my deep experience in both process art and process writing practices into my facilitation efforts as well as my life “off the page.”
